How to work your winter wardrobe with your new season buys
In the first few weeks of lockdown, many of us lived in comfortable basics and stopped getting dressed properly. There is no doubt that while our love for fashion has not waned, it has been very centred on what we do inside our houses, so that means there has been more of a focus on loose, comfortable, and functional items. It has not really been about getting dressed.
With Spring and the promise of an event filled year just around the corner, we get to dress with purpose and consideration—a frock for drinks with mates at the pub, a cool pair of tailored trousers for a picnic in the park, a blazer for doing some Saturday shopping… Well, with spring coinciding with the easing of lockdown restrictions, it is time to inject some fun into our outfits.
However, it was our winter wardrobe that fell victim to the lockdown which has led many of us to question how we can combine our winter favourites alongside our new season loves. We are big fans of items that will see you through the whole year, layering new element into your wardrobe with pieces you will love season upon season.
Light Layering
First up, April is the month to get acquainted with some clever layering. Think of lighter pieces that will keep you warm on chillier spring days. This look is exactly what we mean: A relaxed velvet blazer worn with vibrant palazzo trousers and chic flats.
The Minidress
Mini hemlines were all the rage on the runways, in both skirt and dress forms. We understand your trepidation for the shorter hem, this is a look that will see you right through. Match with tights and knee length boots now and switch it up with sandals when the weather turns. Tick off two trends in one by investing in a mini in bright vibrant colours.
Tailoring
For one, we love the ease of elegance that tailoring offers but there is a temptation to abandon tailoring with the warmer days around the corner. This versatile option means you can pair a pair of black velvet trousers with a bold floral blouse and flats or dress with sequin camisole and heels for a polished look.
The Jumpsuit
The jumpsuit has always been a core staple in the TP wardrobe, a one stop outfit solution but you can add an additional layer of texture by embracing the statement collar blouse, just a peek showing against the round neck of the jumpsuit.
Midi Dress
It comes as no surprise that dresses are super popular around springtime. But how to wear them right now? But some of the new season finds need just that added layering of protection from those April showers, just pair your frock with some cool trainers and layered with your winter knitwear.
