Our ethical story so far…
Twenty years ago, when Traffic People was founded in and around the marketplaces of Portobello and Camden, sustainability and carbon footprint was not at the forefront of fashion thinking as it is today, yet this has from day one been built into the fabric of what Traffic People is about. As a company we care about our staff, our customers and also the companies that work alongside us. Good relationships have always been fostered and that is evident by the fact we have been working with the same factory for over a decade.
All our sourcing is carried out in-house by our company co-founder and designer Louise Reynolds who meets our suppliers in the country of manufacture. By regularly meeting our suppliers we aim to build strong working partnerships. Our suppliers work in accordance with our principles, which are based on the International Labour Organisations Core Conventions, and the Conventions on the Rights of the Child.
In accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015, Traffic People is committed to a work environment that is free from human trafficking, forced labour and unlawful child labour. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards slavery and require any suppliers working with us to comply with our values.
We have also always been committed to reducing our carbon footprint, with our products being cut and finished in one factory, then shipped to either the UK or Europe depending on which is nearest to its end point. We consolidate our shipping, so we are able to cut out multiple trips for our couriers.
At Traffic People we have always created clothes that are designed to last. As we are not a fast fashion business our clothes are designed to be contemporary enough to make you stand out from the crowd, but also have a classic silhouette that will endure through the years. If you buy from us, you can be assured that the pieces we sell will stand the test of time and are an investment for your wardrobe.
Recently we have made the move to more eco-friendly packaging, ditching plastic bags for more sustainable paper bags for our online packaging. We are also working to move to using more recycled and organic fabrics in our collections in 2024.
Traffic People and One Tribe are working together to protect rainforest with every purchase you make. Now when you purchase from Traffic People you automatically save trees in the rainforest and help improve the carbon footprint of your purchase.
Traffic People is participating in the United Nations Framework for Climate Change to adopt the UN Sustainability Goals. Working together as one tribe to help fight climate change together.

The Royal Trinity Hospice provide free specialist palliative and end of life care for people. This year they need to raise 9 million pounds to help people in their end of life make the most of their last moments whilst providing advice and support for their families. We have been supporting this worthwhile charity for nearly decade by providing them with items we are unable to sell for their charity shops, instead of sending them to landfill.
We have been supporting Barnardo’s for the past 5 years by donating our surplus stock to them for sale in their charity shops. Barnardo’s has been helping hundreds of thousands of children, young people, parents, and carers across the UK for 155 years. They believe that all children have the right to a happy and healthy life.
